You might not always want all available layers or themes to appear on the map you request. To turn off certain layers completely from your maps you can open the "dim map layers" dialog by clicking the menu entry to the left of the map display.
The layers you can turn off during mapping include:
- province borders
- streets
- areas with buildings / settlements
- rivers and lakes
- cities / towns
By clicking the checkbox next to the layer name you prevent planiglobe from plotting this layer on the maps you request. This selection is active during your entire mapping session unless you open the "dim map layers" dialog again and deselect the entry by a click on the checkbox. Be aware that you would not want to dim the cities layers when using the "Search for Cities or Towns" search form at the top left of the mapping interface.
